Job Summary The Rail Welder is responsible for welding all aspects of the rail. Major Responsibilities Run multiple types of welders, arc, propane and thermite welding Be proficient in rail welding Weld frogs, rail-ends, turn-outs, switch points etc. Help move replacement parts Properly align parts before welding Help out with rail work as needed Maintain various hand tools for assigned work Maintain equipment Ensure railroad right-of-way is clear Ensure a safe working environment Working Conditions Up to 12 hour shifts On the road job up to 8 nights at a time Outdoor work in various types of weather and environmental conditions Must be able to lift up to 50 plus pounds repeatedly
