Hatch is seeking a Thermal Power Engineering Intern. Reporting to the Energy group, you will support offices globally working from our Tampa, FL office location.

The Thermal Power Business Unit at Hatch works in all aspects of thermal power generation, including a wide range of advanced and state-of-the-art power and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) concepts, including the development of new applications for:

Fossil fuel conventional thermal power plants
Simple and combined cycle combustion turbine generator plants
Geothermal
Compressed air energy storage
Integrated gasification combined cycle plants with chemical polygeneration plants
Cogeneration and district heating systems
Fluidized bed applications using coal and petcoke
Reciprocating engine power plants
Energy from waste
Biomass
Biofuels and biogas
Process off-gases
Waste heat recovery

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Nice To Haves

• Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred
• Willingness to travel and work onsite (including remote locations)

Responsibilities

• Solve challenging problems pertaining to thermal power generating systems and thermal conversion of energy
• Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, with focus on thermal power systems
• Actively participate in the creation of the technical reports and presentations to clients
• Assist the research and development of thermal technologies
• Gain valuable on-site practical experience
• Perform assignments related to your sector
• Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
• Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
• Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
• Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
