Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • 15+ years of mechanical/thermal systems engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and thermal engineering principles
  • Experience with 1-D fluid system modeling
  • Experience with heat exchanger design/sizing
  • Experience supporting prototype and/or production builds
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup
  • Ability to meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) for confined military vehicle environments

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance; non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, HVAC systems, vehicle systems, or related design engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical and thermal engineering principles.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, production builds, design validation, testing, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience developing or maintaining Technical Data Packages, engineering drawings, specifications, SOWs, ICDs, CIDS, or supplier technical documentation.
  • Experience with supplier technical management, proposal evaluation, source selection, or supplier design oversight.
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup is preferred.
  • Previous experience with ground combat vehicles, military vehicles, defense platforms, or heavy vehicle systems is preferred.
  • Ability to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles; must be able to pass applicable Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) testing for confined spaces.
  • Ability to support occasional evening or weekend overtime as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% to other facilities and military installations.

Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate mechanical, thermal, HVAC, power pack, electronics cooling, and crew cabin environmental control systems to meet customer and vehicle requirements.
  • Derive vehicle-level performance requirements and develop/release engineering design specifications.
  • Perform fluid flow and thermal analyses to size, optimize, and validate distribution systems.
  • Develop alternative concepts and support trade studies for performance, weight, cost, power, and thermal impacts.
  • Select, design, and integrate HVAC components, subsystems, and distribution architecture.
  • Track and manage weight, cost, thermal, and power allocations.
  • Develop and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and release drawings in accordance with the Engineering Release Plan (ERP).
  • Prepare technical documentation including SOWs, CIDS, ICDs, SSPs, RFP packages, technical reports, proposals, test plans, and test reports.
  • Support supplier proposal evaluations, source selection, cost quote reviews, and supplier design development activities.
  • Provide technical oversight to suppliers to ensure designs meet performance, test, and validation requirements.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations in a laboratory environment and support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
  • Investigate and resolve production, supplier, and field issues.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams, designers, and prototype shop personnel to support project execution.
  • Develop estimates and planning materials including ROMs, BOEs, project plans, and informal estimates.
