Thermal Engineer

Vinci•Palo Alto, CA
•$140,000 - $200,000•Hybrid

About The Position

As part of the technical sales team, the Thermal Engineer will help accelerate adoption of Vinci's software with leading engineering teams. The role works with prospective customers to demonstrate the platform's capabilities and its potential to improve product design, thermal performance, time-to-market, and reliability. The engineer will build and simulate thermal models based on customer designs, validating the software and demonstrating its value in real-world applications. The work involves thermal analysis and CFD, including steady-state and transient thermal behavior in areas such as electronics cooling, thermal management, and product reliability. The position collaborates directly with customer engineering teams to understand requirements, answer technical questions, and communicate product capabilities. Customer insights also inform product development by identifying needs and opportunities for improvement. This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the Palo Alto office, with moderate travel primarily within the United States and infrequent international travel for key customers and events in Asia and Europe.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on electronics thermal engineering or simulation experience, such as CFD/FEA or experience with Ansys Icepak, Siemens Flotherm, or Cadence Celsius.
  • Experience with semiconductor electronics packaging, advanced packaging such as 2.5D/3D IC, or semiconductor thermal management.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to quickly learn new tools and workflows.
  • Ability to communicate complex results clearly to mixed technical and business audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with advanced cooling technologies such as cold plates and vapor chambers.
  • Experience in pre-sales or technical sales roles.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new physics-based workflows and AI-assisted design tools.
  • Experience commercializing technical software, ideally EDA or simulation tools, into semiconductor and electronics companies.

Responsibilities

  • Support customer engineering teams during evaluation by assisting with simulation setup, running test cases, and interpreting results to demonstrate Vinci's value.
  • Collaborate with sales to deliver product demonstrations, conduct proof-of-concept evaluations, and participate in technical discussions with prospective customers.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and troubleshooting during customer onboarding and deployments, including production phases.
  • Identify customer pain points and workflow challenges, and work with product and engineering teams to improve product capabilities and customer experience.
  • Deliver technical training sessions and workshops to help customer teams adopt and scale Vinci in their engineering workflows.
  • Represent Vinci at industry conferences and semiconductor events through live product demonstrations, booth activities, and technical engagement with prospective customers and partners.
  • Stay informed about competitive technologies, industry trends, and market positioning to communicate Vinci's differentiators.
