About The Position

Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital at Lutheran Hospital is seeking a Therapy Aide for its inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The hospital provides care for individuals facing medical, physical, emotional, and vocational challenges related to brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputation, and multiple traumas. This is a per diem/PRN position paying $20.00 per hour. The role supports therapists with patient-related activities and therapy preparation. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program and potential advancement to full-time opportunities. Part-time/per-diem employees may be eligible for 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. Post-offer employment testing is required before the first day of work.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified BLS, or completion of BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.

• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist.
• Lift patients to and from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs, and other facility or department equipment.
• Assist patients with transfers to all surfaces.
• Assist patients with donning and doffing appliances specific to the facility or department.
• Position patients in parallel bars and prepare them for standing with appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices and equipment.
• Transport patients to and from therapy as needed.
• Assist therapists with other appropriate patient-related treatment activities and provide equipment.
• Assist with patient-related activities, including equipment setup and patient positioning in preparation for therapy sessions.
