About The Position

River Oaks Hospital, a 126-bed psychiatric facility located near New Orleans, Louisiana, has been providing treatment for mental illness and addictive disorders since 1970. The hospital offers inpatient services for adults and adolescents, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for adults. The New Orleans Institute specializes in trauma and compulsive behaviors, and the Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for anorexia and bulimia. Both specialized centers are nationally recognized. River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Licensed Therapist PRN. This role involves providing individual, family, and group therapy to meet caseload requirements, under the supervision of the Clinical Services Director or the director of outpatient Services. The therapist will be responsible for developing and writing admission assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries within established time frames and formats. They will also serve as a liaison with families, outside agencies, and referral sources, and will be responsible for the assessment, design, structure, and implementation of therapy services to best meet patient and family needs. Duties are performed in accordance with CMS Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards. Job duties include presenting concise and well-organized treatment plan reviews that reflect accurate clinical awareness and the ability to articulate and develop individualized treatment plans. The therapist will also write individualized, behavioral, and measurable treatment objectives and provide appropriate individual interventions, documenting them clearly in the medical record.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health field required.
  • Must have a current certification or licensure by the State of Louisiana (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) or be under supervision pursuing licensure for LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
  • Good clinical skills to assess dynamics accurately and develop effective treatment strategies within the context of the overall treatment plan.
  • Good analytical ability to evaluate information reported by all members of the treatment team and revise treatment strategies accordingly.
  • Communication and teamwork abilities to support clinicians, nurses, and utilization review colleagues working with the population.
  • Working knowledge of how to identify appropriate referral resources within the community.
  • Organizational skills to engage in case management, including discharge planning.
  • Ability to assess the needs and provide the required range of treatment modalities and interventions.
  • A minimum of one year experience in discharge planning, clinical case management or a similar position in a community-based agency setting which provides experience in referrals for patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years post graduate work experience in mental health or related field preferred.
  • Two years direct practice experience and/or clinical (graduate, continuing ed., etc.) training specific to individual, family and group therapy (if specialized issues group, training must be specific to issue).
