About The Position

Join University Health Behavioral Health Ellington Place as a Therapeutic Support Specialist/Mental Health Technician on our weekend overnight team! Work Saturday and Sunday, 7 PM–7:30 AM, while earning both a weekend shift differential and an overnight shift differential. As a Therapeutic Support Specialist on our weekend overnight shift team, you’ll play a vital role in providing compassionate care to residents while ensuring the smooth operation of our residential care facility. This role blends meaningful client interaction with essential overnight responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to make a real difference. This role offers the opportunity to balance client interaction with independent overnight tasks, making it ideal for someone who thrives in a calm yet purposeful environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (no college degree required).
  • Must obtain Heartsavers CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
  • Complete the licensure course and exam within the first 90 days of employment. Certification must remain current per the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).
  • Obtain a valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver’s license.
  • Must be comfortable and competent operating a 15-passenger van within 3 months of employment and obey all traffic laws while on duty.
  • Successfully clear the Family Care Registry background check.
  • Complete all required training as outlined during orientation and by leadership within established timelines for continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Personal lived experience with recovery from mental health or substance use disorders is valued in our setting.
  • Preference for candidates with documented experience assisting patients with activities of daily living (e.g. home health or residential experience).
  • Prior experience in a mental health care setting is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time with residents during the evening hours, providing emotional support and engaging them in light, meaningful activities to help them unwind.
  • Assist with administering morning medications (training provided) and ensure proper documentation.
  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor residents while they sleep, ensuring safety, comfort, and peace of mind throughout the night.
  • Complete key overnight tasks, including billing, shift reports, and documentation updates to prepare for daytime staff.
  • Perform light cleaning, safety checks on equipment, and other tasks to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Coordinate and ensure all preparations are completed for a smooth handoff to the daytime team.
