About The Position
Join University Health Behavioral Health Ellington Place as a Therapeutic Support Specialist/Mental Health Technician on our weekend day shift team! Work Saturday and Sunday, 7 AM–7:30 PM, with a significant shift differential for weekend hours. Optional additional shifts are available. As a Therapeutic Support Specialist on our residential care team, you will provide essential care and support to residents, helping them thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (no college degree required).
- Must obtain Heartsavers CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
- Complete the licensure course and exam within the first 90 days of employment. Certification must remain current per the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).
- Obtain a valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver’s license.
- Must be comfortable and competent operating a 15-passenger van within 3 months of employment and obey all traffic laws while on duty.
- Successfully clear the Family Care Registry background check.
- Complete all required training as outlined during orientation and by leadership within established timelines for continued employment.
Nice To Haves
- Personal lived experience with recovery from mental health or substance use disorders is valued in our setting.
- Preference for candidates with documented experience assisting patients with activities of daily living (e.g. home health or residential experience).
- Prior experience in a mental health care setting is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Lead fun, meaningful activities that promote confidence, joy, and emotional well-being for residents.
- Guide residents in developing practical skills like cooking, cleaning, symptom management, and problem-solving.
- Assist with outings, medication administration (training provided), and maintaining a welcoming, recovery-focused environment.
