About The Position

Join University Health Behavioral Health Ellington Place as a Therapeutic Support Specialist on our day shift team! Support adults with mental illness while enjoying a consistent weekday schedule: Monday–Friday, 7 AM–3:30 PM. As a Therapeutic Support Specialist on our residential care team, you will provide essential care and support to residents, helping them thrive in a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (no college degree required).
Must obtain Heartsavers CPR certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
Complete the licensure course and exam within the first 90 days of employment. Certification must remain current per the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services (DHSS).
Obtain a valid Class E Missouri or Kansas driver’s license.
Must be comfortable and competent operating a 15-passenger van within 3 months of employment and obey all traffic laws while on duty.
Successfully clear the Family Care Registry background check.
Complete all required training as outlined during orientation and by leadership within established timelines for continued employment.

Nice To Haves

Personal lived experience with recovery from mental health or substance use disorders is valued in our setting.
Preference for candidates with documented experience assisting patients with activities of daily living (e.g. home health or residential experience).
Prior experience in a mental health care setting is highly valued.

Engage and Connect: Lead fun, meaningful activities that promote confidence, joy, and emotional well-being for residents.
Teach Life Skills: Guide residents in developing practical skills like cooking, cleaning, symptom management, and problem-solving.
Provide Support: Assist with outings, medication administration (training provided), and maintaining a welcoming, recovery-focused environment.
