About The Position

We are currently hiring a Full-Time Recreation Programmer to join our team at our Bethany Residence program in Burlington. Located in Burlington, Bethany Residence is owned by the Halton Region and operated by AbleLiving Services with 128 beds. Bethany offers shared bedroom accommodation with all meals included as well as life skills, recreation and housekeeping supports in a large congregate setting. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator or designate, this position is responsible for planning and leading the implementation of life skills and recreation programs as identified by individual clients’ needs and goals. This position collaborates with internal staff and community partners for a holistic approach to programs and services. This position assists in evaluating the effectiveness of programs and implements changes as needed.

Requirements

  • Recreation Therapy diploma, Developmental Services Worker diploma, Social Services Worker diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of life skills programs or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to foster, enhance and maintain an effective team work environment.
  • Ability to take action in an urgent or emergency situation.
  • Ability to apply training methods and procedures appropriately.
  • Ability to identify alternative solutions and approaches to problems.
  • Demonstrate a positive and solution focused approach.
  • Act in a respectful manner.
