Reporting to the Program Manager and working in cooperation with the Recreation Therapist, the Therapeutic Assistant assists in the provision of health, health promotion and therapeutic services to the rehabilitation population. The Therapeutic Assistant will work cooperatively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team in carrying out the individual’s treatment program and communicating patient-specific information that will enhance the level of knowledge of the treatment team.

Requirements

  • Grade XII plus a two year certificate or diploma from a Recreation or Therapeutic Recreation Program
  • Current CPR certification is required

Nice To Haves

  • Current St. John Ambulance First Aid course preferred
  • Current certification in Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) is an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the provision of health, health promotion and therapeutic services to the rehabilitation population.
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team in carrying out the individual’s treatment program.
  • Communicates patient-specific information that will enhance the level of knowledge of the treatment team.
