Reporting to the Program Manager of the Medical-Surgical and Heart Health department within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio the Physiotherapist is a member of a clinical team, and collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, solves problems, and shares responsibilities. The physiotherapist assesses diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairments, pain, functional limitations or disabilities. The physiotherapist educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and pain management. The physiotherapist provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students, and supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.

Requirements

Masters's degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy from an accredited university
Current or eligible for registration in a Resident capacity with the Nova Scotia Physiotherapy Regulator and eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS)
Thorough knowledge of Physiotherapy practice, with an interest in program development and evaluation skills
Demonstrated accountability

Responsibilities

Assesses diagnoses and treats patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairments, pain, functional limitations or disabilities.
Educates and communicates with other health disciplines, the public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and pain management.
Provides supervision and evaluation of physiotherapy students.
Provides supervision of physiotherapy assistants and aides.
Collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives.
