Therapeutic Activities Worker - SCI Camp Hill
About The Position
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Therapeutic Activities Worker who is ready to bring fresh energy and strong commitment to therapeutic programming. In this role, you help inmates build important skills, develop healthy routines, and make steady progress toward personal goals. This position supports therapeutic recreation services for inmates on specialized housing units and helps ensure that treatment plans meet individual needs. The role strengthens program coordination, enhances inmate engagement, and supports multidisciplinary care.
Requirements
- Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; or A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of individual and group therapeutic recreation programs
- Assess inmate strengths, needs, and functioning levels to create therapeutic recreation objectives
- Determine methods to meet therapeutic goals and align activities with other treatment disciplines
- Conduct therapeutic recreation sessions, provide instruction and support, and recommend program adjustments
- Review inmate participation, document progress, and prepare required reports and notations
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and offer recommendations to support individualized treatment plans
