About The Position

St. Francis DeSales High School is seeking a highly energetic and faith-filled educator to serve as a Theology Instructor starting in the 2026/2027 school year. St. Francis DeSales High School is part of the Catholic Diocese of Columbus and has an enrollment of nearly 900 students across grades nine through twelve. The Mission of Saint Francis DeSales High School is to provide a holistic educational experience in the Catholic tradition which prepares the mind, body, and spirit of each student to love God, seek truth, and live virtuously. Desired candidates for these positions will work closely with students and faculty alike to support our school's Catholic mission of educating the entire person. Candidates will promote and demonstrate high standards and values for student performance and be tireless in their pursuit of addressing individual student needs.

Requirements

  • Must be an active member of a Catholic parish
  • BA degree with at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in Theology or Catechetics
  • A valid Ohio Non-Tax Teaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one prior to the start date
  • Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Completion or verification of safe environment training and requirements necessary for employment in all Diocesan schools: VIRTUS training and a current FBI/BCI background check if not already completed for state licensure
  • Appropriate state certification/license: as required by the grade levels and subjects taught
  • Religious Education certification as required by the diocese

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum while helping them to grow in faith and responsibility.
  • Contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture as it supports faith formation and student learning.
  • Understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting the diversity of students.
  • Know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility.
  • Use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning.
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
  • Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
  • Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the faith community to support student development, learning and faith.
  • Assume responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community.
