About The Position
Theater Usher is a seasonal position on Silver Dollar City’s Entertainment Team. Ushers help guests experience the park’s entertainment and festivals by providing guest service, maintaining clean venue areas, and supporting safe operations. Shows and festivals change throughout the season. The position is scheduled to start now and end January 2, 2027. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The role takes place in a dynamic, guest-facing environment, both indoors and outdoors. Team members work in public and backstage areas, sometimes in cramped quarters, and must be comfortable in varying and extreme weather conditions. The work involves extended periods of standing and walking on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, and concrete, as well as maintaining cleanliness with the equipment provided. Availability and responsibilities must be flexible to meet venue operational needs.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to communicate efficiently.
- Able to lift and/or move 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds maximum.
- Able to stand and walk continuously on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, and concrete.
- Able to remember locations and understand and carry out instructions continuously.
- Able to work in cramped quarters frequently.
- Able to work at a rapid speed continuously.
- Able to work in extreme weather frequently.
Responsibilities
- Meet and greet guests as a host inside and outside the theater.
- Provide customer service by answering questions about the assigned venue and the park generally.
- Help ensure guest safety in and around the venue.
- Maintain cleanliness inside and outside the theater and in backstage areas, using brooms, mops, vacuums, and leaf blowers as trained.
- Learn and follow safety standards and emergency procedures, including directing evacuations when necessary.
- Interact with coworkers without distracting them and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Communicate with team members by two-way radio as needed.
- Solve problems with minimal supervision and work in a self-motivated, self-directed manner.
- Remain flexible with hours and responsibilities.
