SUMMARY:
The Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor will support the 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) (1st SFC(A)), which has an ongoing requirement for Theater Engagement Instruction services. The 1st SFC(A) is a major subordinate command within the U.S. Army Special Operations. The Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor will provide 1st SFC with current mission-focused, regionally specific Theater Engagement training curriculum development, instructional training/delivery, and incorporate Government theater assessments in accordance with the Commander’s mission requirements and priorities.

The Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor will provide Theater Engagement training development and Regional Expertise, informational products, and instructional training/delivery in accordance with the Commander’s mission requirements and priorities. The Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor will develop an understanding of the historical, political, military, cultural, linguistic, religious, sociological (includes demographic), economic, and geographic factors of a foreign country or specific global region. The Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor will conduct critical needs analysis, detailed reviews, and evaluations of plans, studies, and trends of specific regions within the 1st SFC(A) Area of Responsibility (AOR) and incorporate them into curriculum and informational products.

The Theater Engagement and Regional Expertise Instructor will be required to conduct classroom training, situational training exercises, isolated immersions (traditionally consolidated training plans and CONUS based), participate in Pre-Mobilization Training (PMT) exercises based on specific military or civilian tasks or situations, and conduct assessments of training upon completion to validate comprehension. All training and instruction provided will be based on current and relevant information collected through research and Government subject matter experts (SMEs). These situational training exercises and isolated immersions may be combined with language training such that they are carried out in classroom environments, target region, or field training environments.

Requirements

• Former U.S. Army Special Forces (SF) professional with demonstrated operational experience; prior U.S. Army Special Forces experience is required.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of combined DoD or other U.S. Government experience, with significant experience supporting Special Operations activities within the EUCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
• At least one (1) year of experience within the previous five (5) years living, deploying, or serving within the EUCOM AOR, with routine interaction and cooperative work with Host Nation, allied, or partner-nation military and government personnel.
• Demonstrated experience in SF operations, mission planning, regional engagement, partner-force development, and Joint/Combined Special Operations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the European political, military, cultural, security, and operational environment, with experience working by, with, and through foreign partner forces.
• At least five (5) years of experience within the previous seven (7) years conducting theater-level planning at the Joint Command level or higher within or in direct support of Special Operations.
• Demonstrated experience in regional engagement planning, theater engagement planning, future operations planning, operational planning, and strategic planning.
• Experience planning, conducting, leading, or supporting Joint Special Operations missions, exercises, and engagements, including coordination with senior U.S., Host Nation, allied, and partner-nation military and government personnel.
• Minimum of two (2) years of military or civilian instructional experience, with the ability to translate SF operational experience and European regional expertise into effective instruction, exercises, scenarios, and practical applications.
• Bachelor’s degree from a U.S.-accredited institution in a relevant field.
• Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance, with eligibility for additional access as required.

Nice To Haves

• DoD language training and proficiency in a language relevant to the European AOR is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Assess and develop training and informational products based on research and analysis of priority locations throughout AOR in order to present Theater Engagement analysis and train personnel through briefings, classroom or field environments.
• Provide regional training of the specific units Area of Responsibility (AOR).
• Incorporate cross-cultural/intercultural competency into Theater Engagement curriculum.
• Provide country-specific regional and culture training and end-of-training assessments.
• Maintain a positive and professional learning environment, address curriculum gaps, and collaborate with Government on student behavior and attendance concerns.
• Develop synchronous, asynchronous, and blended Theater Engagement training solutions in accordance with AR 11-6, CJCS INST 3126.01A (LREC Capability, Identification, Planning and Sourcing), USSOCOM 350-8, 1st SFC(A) 350-1, and other supporting regulations, policies, and DA-PAMS.
• Conduct assessments of training via written test, oral presentations, homework, etc. and upon completion to validate comprehension of Theater Engagement training.
