About The Position

The Mito National Lead - Disease Strategy & Field Engagement will advance understanding of ultra-rare mitochondrial diseases, including TK2 deficiency, in a landscape where patients often go years without answers. This will help close that gap by equipping clinicians with clear, meaningful education and by supporting multidisciplinary teams in recognizing ultra-rare mitochondrial diseases earlier. Through engagement, insight generation, and strategic agility, the Mito National Lead – Disease Strategy & Field Engagement will strengthen UCB’s ability to reach underserved populations, expand awareness across various specialties and multidisciplinary teams, and enable more informed pathways to evaluation and care. The Mito National Lead – Disease Strategy & Field Engagement role requires strong clinical acumen, focused field execution, and close collaboration with cross-functional partners. This is a fully field-based position with frequent travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, healthcare, or related field
  • Minimum 10+ years biopharma or biotech experience, including at least 7 years in field-based healthcare provider engagement
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in ultra rare/rare or complex disease areas involving multispecialty diagnostic pathways
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70%

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, public health, or business
  • Experience in mitochondrial or neuromuscular disease areas
  • Rare disease launch or market development experience
  • Familiarity with academic health systems and referral networks
  • Strong analytical and insight synthesis skills
  • Experience delivering education to groups of healthcare professionals
  • Strong clinical communication and independent decision-making skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently

Responsibilities

  • Delivering virtual and in-person education to healthcare professionals on disease awareness
  • Support clinicians with diagnostic pathways and patient identification strategies
  • Capture and share insights to inform strategy and improve engagement
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure aligned, compliant field execution
  • Participate in congresses to build awareness and stakeholder relationships
  • Develop relationships across multispecialty teams and healthcare institutions
