About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Tenneva is a mission-driven social enterprise dedicated to changing lives through the power of work. Through our retail stores, workforce development programs, and community partnerships, we provide employment opportunities and services to individuals throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. We're looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Textile Production team member to help transform donated clothing into merchandise ready for our sales floor. If you enjoy staying busy, working with your hands, and taking pride in quality work, we'd love to hear from you! The Textile Production position grades, prices, tags, hangs, and prepares donated clothing and textiles for sale. This role evaluates merchandise for quality and condition, prepares approved items according to store standards, and maintains a steady production flow to keep quality merchandise moving to the sales floor. The work you do helps turn donated clothing into revenue that supports employment opportunities and Goodwill's programs throughout our communities.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to make consistent decisions about merchandise quality.
  • Ability to stay focused and productive while performing repetitive, hands-on work.
  • Ability to balance speed, quality, and accuracy while meeting daily production goals.
  • Dependability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established production standards.
  • Flexible availability, including the ability to work a varied schedule Sunday through Saturday.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive bending, reaching, grasping, and handling tasks.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect donated clothing and textiles for quality and condition.
  • Determine whether items should be sold, salvaged, recycled, or discarded according to established standards.
  • Price and tag approved merchandise using the Celerant system.
  • Hang and organize garments by category, size, and price.
  • Maintain a steady production pace while meeting daily production goals and quality standards.
  • Identify high-quality, vintage, trending, branded, or unique merchandise that may be appropriate for e-Commerce.
  • Keep your workstation and surrounding production areas clean, safe, and organized.
  • Work as part of the Retail team to maintain efficient product flow and support store operations.
