About The Position

The Testing Specialist is responsible for a variety of testing procedures and proctoring of exams, maintaining test security and integrity, customer service, database management, and supporting testing program management. This role involves adhering to confidentiality standards, including FERPA, and National College Testing Association standards. The specialist will also manage daily database entry, reporting, program evaluation, and financial aspects of testing services. Additionally, the position includes hiring, training, and supervising student staff and providing support to management.

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Internet based delivery systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and skills with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer-based exams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Awareness of accessibility and disability considerations.
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with testing and assessment.
  • Work experience in an office with high security and confidentiality requirements.
  • Prior experience in testing/assessment center and/or proctoring national testing programs.

Responsibilities

  • Proctoring a wide variety of exams, including on-campus make-up exams, accommodated on-campus exams, computer and paper/pencil correspondence exams, language placement tests, prior learning assessments (e.g., CLEP, DSST), admissions testing (e.g., On-Campus ACT), certification and professional exams (e.g., Meazure Learning, Prov, Inc.), psychological and vocational exams, and miscellaneous group exams.
  • Maintaining test security and integrity, and adhering to confidentiality standards including FERPA, and knowledge of and adherence to National College Testing Association standards and Certification.
  • Authenticating identity of examinees, maintaining secure tests, overseeing video monitoring system, and reporting of academic integrity violations.
  • Scheduling appointments for exams, creating and updating customer database, communicating with various offices and faculty to receive, proctor, and return exams, and maintain organized records of completed exams and appointments.
  • Performing routine office duties, including email and phone communications, copy/fax/scanning/printing, filing, maintaining testing and office supplies, and creating and updating public relations materials (e.g., brochures).
  • Daily database entry and management, reporting statistics regarding test volume, and program evaluation.
  • Entering test score data into electronic student records.
  • Managing requisitions, invoices, budget, and deposits for all testing services accounts.
  • Hiring, training, and supervising undergraduate work study students and graduate assistants.
  • Providing support to CBT Manager and Director of Testing in managing testing programs.
