The Test Lab Technician is responsible for performing pre-tests and electro-electronic or electromechanical tests routinely on equipment, complying with the safety regulations inherent to the activities performed. Prepares final reports and keeps records of the tests performed in computerized database. Tests functional performance of circuit breakers, including electrical and mechanical functions, leak tests, high voltage tests, and visual and dimensional inspections. Performs mechanical adjustment operations on circuit breaker components, linkages, and operating mechanisms. Compares results with specifications, records test data, and prints test results. Performs electrical trouble-shooting and minor repairs, including the replacing of defective wiring and electrical components, and mechanical repairs. Frequently required to support production during repair procedures. Analyzes test results on defective units and reports on nonconforming products. Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems. Reviews test reports from other test technicians and maintains the test reports files. Calibrates test instruments according to specifications. Performs maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical test equipment, gas handling equipment, and test facilities. Ensures the product will meet customer requirement in regards for finished goods. Documents work performed by filling out proper forms. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to work evening shift and overtime as needed.
