Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
  • Previous experience with high-voltage electrical testing or transformer testing in a manufacturing or utility environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage test practices and standards (IEEE, ANSI, IEC).
  • Familiarity with insulation resistance testing, capacitance/power factor measurement, partial discharge detection, and ratio/polarity verification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-voltage electrical testing of capacitor voltage transformers and instrument transformers, including electrical performance, high-voltage, visual, and dimensional inspections.
  • Operate and monitor high-voltage test equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Verify product performance against engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI, IEC).
  • Test functional performance including voltage transformation ratios, phase angle measurement, insulation resistance, capacitance/power factor, partial discharge detection, and ratio/polarity verification.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, nameplates, and technical specifications.
  • Accurately document test data, prepare test reports, and ensure full traceability of test records.
  • Compare results against specifications, record test data, and print test results.
  • Document all work performed by completing the appropriate forms.
  • Identify, analyze, and escalate test failures or deviations; collaborate with engineering and quality teams to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and minor repairs, including replacement of defective components and mechanical repairs; frequently support production during repair procedures.
  • Analyze test results on defective units and report on nonconforming products.
  • Perform mechanical adjustment operations on instrument transformer components, linkages, and operating mechanisms.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test procedures, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
  • Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and customers regarding testing procedures, results, and problem resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Work comfortably in a high-voltage testing environment with appropriate PPE.
  • Lift and maneuver test equipment and components weighing up to 35 lbs. as part of daily responsibilities.
  • Exposure to loud noise, high voltage, and moving equipment; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
