About The Position

The Test Lab Technician will help turn ideas into real-world products by supporting research, new product development, enabling technologies, and other innovation initiatives. In this hands-on role, you will conduct product and prototype testing, build and maintain lab fixtures and equipment, capture data that informs engineering decisions, and prepare samples for evaluation. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to apply hands-on technical skills in a lab setting.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, manufacturing processes, and machine or shaft alignment.
  • Foundational knowledge of trigonometry and basic mechanical principles, including force systems, statics, friction, and vibration.
  • Experience troubleshooting test rigs and working with electrical, electronic, and measurement instruments such as temperature, speed, vibration, and torque devices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with mechanical power transmission components such as bearings, gears, clutches, chain and sprockets, belts and sheaves, couplings, and gearboxes.

  • A two-year technical degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safe, organized, and compliant lab environment.
  • Set up and perform research and development testing on products and prototypes.
  • Build, assemble, and modify test fixtures, machines, and support equipment as needed.
  • Maintain lab equipment and testing tools to ensure reliable performance and readiness.
  • Monitor test activity, capture key measurements and observations, and support the preparation of preliminary test reports for engineering review.
  • Disassemble tested products and prepare samples for inspection, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Support prototype assembly and preparation to ensure products are ready for testing.
