Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use. Role Purpose: Perform verification, qualification, and reliability testing of optical telecommunications products in a laboratory environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to complete assignments accurately and on schedule.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Hands-on technical skills using test and measurement equipment.
Nice To Haves
- Basic understanding of optical test equipment.
- Basic knowledge of fiber optic theory and hardware.
- Previous experience in electronics and/or fiber optics.
- Laboratory experience is highly desirable.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Set up and perform verification of fiber optic testing systems.
- Configure product samples for environmental and mechanical testing.
- Perform optical measurements using manual or automated test systems.
- Program and operate environmental chambers and test equipment.
- Track, document, and report testing progress and results.
- Conduct basic data analysis and draft test reports.
- Assist with failure mode analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Assist with equipment calibration and construction of jigs and fixtures.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
