About The Position

The focus of the Grass Valley Test Engineering department is to support new product introduction (NPI) by developing and implementing production test solutions, and to provide sustaining support of existing products in the factory. Main tasks of the test engineering technician will be to program the Flying Probe machine and Cable Scan machine for all those NPI products. The test engineering technician will collaborate with team members to provide production test support for the entire lifecycle of a product, from the NPI phase through the end of service.

Requirements

  • College degree (DEC) in Electronics, Computer Science or in a similar field
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in a similar role in an electronic manufacturing environment
  • Experience with electronic troubleshooting and debugging of complex electronic circuitry required
  • Excellent intrapersonal and communication skills to support working with a wide variety of personalities
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written
  • Knowledge of English appropriate to the duties is required, as the incumbent is expected to work in cross-functional research and development teams located in different countries such as the United States and the Netherlands
  • Basic mechanical skills to support the assembly and disassembly of prototype hardware products and systems
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Demonstrated Hardware troubleshooting skills for debugging faulty equipment at the system and board/module levels
  • Excellent PC knowledge including SW installation and configuration of operating systems, Windows Embedded workstation and Server OS, Linux OS. HW drivers, custom SW and low-level OS settings
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in software development (SW) engineering or test engineering environment with a focus on diagnostic test development is a plus
  • Experience creating and contributing to technical documentation for various levels of technical personnel is desired
  • Understanding of Flying Probe testing, highly desired
  • Atlassian Confluence and Jira
  • SW revision control and bug tracking systems, such as Git/Stash
  • Proficiency of SW languages such as C, C++, and C#
  • Proficiency of current scripting languages such as TCL, Python, MS PowerShell
  • JTAG development
  • Mechanical design and 3D modeling software, such as CAD SW

Responsibilities

  • Interact with Test Engineering peers to contribute on product test strategies during the NPI process
  • Assist with the validation and deployment of test solutions for PCBA, product and system level validation as defined by the overall manufacturing test plan
  • Develop technical work procedures and support/reference documentation for production test solutions
  • Maintain and execute assigned tasks in alignment with overall project schedule and milestones
  • Support continuous improvements to the quality, reliability and cost of our production test solutions
  • Provide production level 2 technical support for assigned product lines to resolve technical issues, and support test sustaining activities
  • The activities of the technician include the development of cable scanning, Flying Probe testing, and mechanical fixtures.
