Test Engineer (ATE)

Broadcom•San Jose, CA
•$82,500 - $132,000

About The Position

Broadcom is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to join its Semiconductor Test Engineering team. The role focuses on developing production, characterization, and qualification test programs to help deliver reliable, high-performance products across Broadcom’s portfolio of SoCs and ASICs. The engineer collaborates with design, product, and quality engineering teams to improve test coverage, optimize test time, and support products from early silicon bring-up through high-volume manufacturing. The position develops, debugs, and maintains ATE test programs on the Advantest 93K platform; processes and converts patterns from design environments into tester-compatible formats; and performs silicon characterization and validation across process, voltage, and temperature corners. The engineer analyzes results to improve yield and performance, defines and improves test requirements and coverage with partner teams, correlates simulation, bench, and tester environments, and supports manufacturing ramps by addressing test escapes, yield excursions, and test program robustness. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with related experience, or a master's degree in either field. Recent college graduates may apply. Candidates should have knowledge of digital and high-speed test methodologies, scan/DFT concepts, and pattern processing; hands-on experience with an ATE platform such as Advantest or equivalent; and proficiency in Python or C/C++. Understanding of semiconductor device physics and characterization methods, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication and teamwork skills are also required. Experience with SoC, AI accelerator, networking, or high-speed SerDes devices; tester load board or probe card design and debug; and high-volume production test or manufacturing transfer is preferred. The annual base salary range is USD 82,500 to USD 132,000. The position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, a competitive new-hire equity grant, and annual equity awards, subject to applicable plan documents and award agreements. Broadcom offers medical, dental, and vision plans; 401(k) participation with company matching; an Employee Stock Purchase Program; an Employee Assistance Program; company-paid holidays; paid sick leave and vacation time; and applicable paid family leave and other leaves of absence.
