About The Position

The Department of Horticulture is seeking a TES worker to assist Dr. Daniel Wells research program. This role involves supporting Dr. Wells' research program through planning, coordinating, and executing experiments, assisting with the design, implementation, and optimization of research methodologies and protocols, and managing equipment acquisition, setup, operation, and routine maintenance. The position also contributes to proposal planning and development, provides supervision and day-to-day management of graduate and undergraduate student researchers, performs data collection, analysis, and interpretation, and prepares contributions for manuscripts, reports, and publications. Additionally, the role supports grant administration and reporting, maintains organized research documentation, and collaborates with faculty, staff, and research teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of research methods, experimental design, and scientific protocols
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques and statistical concepts
  • Awareness of grant processes, research proposals, and reporting requirements
  • Understanding of academic publishing and manuscript preparation standards
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Effective organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain research equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Support Dr. Daniel Wells’ research program through planning, coordinating, and executing experiments.
  • Assist with design, implementation, and optimization of research methodologies and protocols.
  • Manage equipment acquisition, setup, operation, and routine maintenance to ensure research readiness.
  • Contribute to proposal planning and development, including drafting technical sections and supporting documentation.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and day-to-day management of graduate and undergraduate student researchers.
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation using appropriate analytical tools and techniques.
  • Prepare and contribute to manuscripts, reports, and publications for submission to academic journals and conferences.
  • Support grant administration and reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain organized research documentation, records, and datasets in accordance with institutional standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and research teams to advance project goals.
