About The Position

The Terminal Supervisor in the Transportation Department is responsible for managing daily employee issues, overseeing work crews, addressing concerns from parents and school administration, and assisting the Assistant Director in coordinating and assigning routes. This role requires a strong understanding of school transportation operations and leadership capabilities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a leadership role with school transportation.
  • Possess current Texas School Bus Driver Certification, and/or be enrolled in the next available class.
  • Possess current Texas Commercial Driver’s License (Class B).
  • Clear driving record and criminal record as required by Texas Education Agency.
  • Obtain the Texas Association for Pupil Services official certificate.
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
  • Knowledge of computer skills, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Ability to supervise and work with Transportation personnel.
  • Ability to be trained in the Transportation Computer Routing System (Transfinder).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a bus driver preferred.
  • Experience in School Bus Routing and Dispatching.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Requires a basic knowledge of technology/computer skills.
  • Ability to use personal computer to access district programs, emails, and other resources.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Texas Association for Pupil Transportation Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in scheduling buses and drivers on both regular and special education routes.
  • Assume responsibility to review Absence from Duty/Missed Punch forms for Payroll.
  • Assist in handling calls from parents and school administrators that have concerns with transportation.
  • Assume the responsibilities of coordinating all bus driver and/or student driver problems with the Director of Transportation.
  • Assist in formulation of updating and revising routes proposed to improve transportation service.
  • Respond to emergency calls from bus drivers on extra-curricular trips after regular duty hours.
  • Make regular inspections of buses for cleanliness and possible vandalism.
  • Drive a school bus with or without students on board.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on department needs.
  • Must complete designated district technology proficiencies each year.
  • Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics.
  • Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
