About The Position

Saia is a logistics and transportation company committed to its people, customers, and community. The Terminal Manager position involves managing, planning, and overseeing the freight operations of a local terminal, assigning and delegating responsibilities, and overseeing terminal personnel. This role is crucial for providing cost-effective, timely, and quality service to customers, investigating and resolving customer issues, and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations. The position also involves analyzing financial and operational reports to improve processes and maximize profitability.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language in order to perform the various tasks of the job, including but not limited to: converse with co-workers and members of the general public, including customers; understand oral and written instructions as well as governmental regulations; respond to questions and inquiries from management and government representatives; and accurately complete various documents, reports and records required of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
  • 7+ years of terminal operations experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation management applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates the activities of terminal employees to provide cost-effective, timely, and quality service to customers.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints and discrepancies.
  • Interviews, selects, and trains new employees.
  • Assures compliance with organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Analyzes and reviews expenditure, financial, and operational reports to project financial gains.
  • Reviews operations and workflows to improve and streamline processes.
  • Provides leadership with feedback to help maximize profitability.
