About The Position

As a Tennis Instructor, you will provide high-quality tennis instruction and foster an engaging, supportive environment for members and guests. You will assist in organizing and delivering Adult and Junior Tennis Programs, collaborating with the Head Tennis Professional and other staff to ensure a positive experience for participants and support the mission and values of Grand Traverse Resort & Spa. The role includes instruction in private and group settings, supporting tennis activities and events, preparing equipment, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. The work takes place on indoor and outdoor courts in variable weather conditions. The schedule includes varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by programming. The role involves standing, moving, and teaching tennis for extended periods, and lifting or transporting tennis equipment as needed. Management may assign additional reasonable related responsibilities.

Requirements

Prior tennis experience and strong knowledge of the game are required.
Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience working with children and adults in an instructional setting highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Deliver private and group tennis instruction to members and guests, focusing on skill development, participation, and enjoyment.
Collaborate with the Head Tennis Professional and Assistant Professional to plan and execute tennis-related activities.
Lead or assist with Junior Tennis Programs, including classes, leagues, mixers, and tournaments.
Assist with teaching Adult tennis activities, leagues, and events.
Help supervise junior leagues and lead young junior classes.
Set up and break down classes and events, preparing necessary equipment and materials.
Develop and follow lesson plans tailored to participants’ tennis ability levels.
String tennis racquets, or learn to do so, in accordance with USRSA standards.
Assist with facility checks and participate in non-tennis-related activities as needed.
Abide by and promote the Resort’s environmental practices.
Perform duties assigned by management, including additional responsibilities as necessary.
