Fall and Spring Tennis Coaching Positions
About The Position
Avenues Athletics Department, part of Avenues: The World School, is seeking committed coaches to develop, plan, and implement its growing sports curriculum. The department focuses on creating comprehensive programs within each sport discipline, with Middle and Upper School coaches collaborating to ensure necessary skills are covered and student athletes' needs are met. This role involves instructing student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to foster individual and team success, while also building a foundation of integrity, pride, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork, and self-confidence. Head Coaches are responsible for breaking down and teaching fundamental skills, attending all scheduled games and practices, managing and coordinating practice and game plans, and handling all administrative duties related to their team. Assistant Coaches support the head coach, contribute to or run practice sessions, gather and record statistical information, and attend all scheduled games, practices, meetings, and events.
Requirements
- Head coaches have 3+ years of head coach coaching experience
- Assistant coaches have 1+ years of coaching or related experience
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff and the athletics department
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to get training before the season commences
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those having experience with the desired age category
- Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game are essential
- Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to our student athletes by following our school and athletic mission
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be living in New York or surrounding area during the season
- Successful completion of careful reference and background checks
