Fall Cross Country Coaching Positions
About The Position
Avenues Athletics Department, part of Avenues: The World School, is seeking committed coaches to develop, plan, and implement its growing sports curriculum. The department focuses on creating comprehensive programs within each sport discipline, with Middle and Upper School coaches collaborating to ensure students acquire necessary skills and meet their athletic needs. This role involves instructing student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to foster individual and team success, while instilling values such as integrity, pride, sportsmanship, self-discipline, goal setting, teamwork, and self-confidence. The position is seasonal, part-time, and requires availability during specific practice and competition times.
Requirements
- Head coaches have 2+ years of cross-country head coach coaching experience
- Assistant coaches have 1+ years of coaching or related experience
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work well with student athletes, parents, faculty/staff and the athletics department
- Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to get training before the season commences
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport, with special consideration given to those having experience with the desired age category
- Enthusiasm, commitment, patience, and a passion for teaching the game are essential to this position
- Ability to motivate and provide positive leadership to our student athletes by following our school and athletic mission
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Must be living in New York or surrounding area during the season

Responsibilities
- Breakdown and teach the fundamental skills for players at all levels
- Attend all scheduled games and practices
- Manage and coordinate practice and game plans
- Be responsible for handling all administrative duties related to their team
- Attend all necessary athletic and school meetings and events
- Support head coach in promoting the mission of the program
- Contribute to and/or run practice sessions
- Gather and record statistical information
