About The Position
The City of Altoona is seeking temporary winter/seasonal employees to support the Public Works Department during the winter months. Employees assist in maintaining safe and accessible roadways during snow and ice events so the community can navigate through the winter season. The position is temporary, with shifts varying based on weather conditions, and typically runs from December 1st through April 15th.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Valid State Class 'B' CDL license is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience with medium and heavy equipment is beneficial, particularly plows and snow removal equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining safe and accessible roadways during snow and ice events.
- Operate snow removal equipment, trucks, and other machinery as needed.
- Perform manual labor tasks.
