About The Position

This position is being filled through OU's PEAK Temporary Staffing Service. The role involves assisting with the day-to-day operations of the team’s athletic fields and grounds. Duties will include mowing, weed eating, edging, watering, turf painting, and other cultural practices. The position performs landscape duties involving strenuous physical activity, with tasks that are precisely defined and specified either verbally or in writing. The worker participates in routine grounds maintenance functions and performs varied unskilled work such as loading and unloading trucks, cleaning work areas, digging ditches, and spreading materials. The role also includes hand-watering and irrigating turf areas, hedges, and flower and shrub beds, using power mowing equipment, and applying pesticides and fertilizers. Ensuring equipment is in working order, refilling fuel, cleaning equipment daily, and performing minor maintenance on equipment and hand tools are also key responsibilities. The worker will report equipment problems or failures, move and cut tree limbs with a chain saw or run through a chipper, and maintain records on tree maintenance activities and equipment usage. Planting, mulching, cultivating, and weeding flowers, shrubs, and hedges, as well as using hand-cutting tools to trim grass, edging, curbs, trees, and weeds, may also be required. The position performs related duties as needed to successfully fulfill its functions.

Requirements

None (Required Education)
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date
Demonstrate the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Demonstrate ability to meet the physical demands of the job including lifting 80 lbs. to the height of a pickup bed
Demonstrate ability to walk continuously for 1 mile
Demonstrate ability to maintain near continuous standing when needed

Responsibilities

May plant, mulch, cultivate and weed flowers, shrubs and hedges.
