About The Position

Seeking a motivated and independent temporary worker primarily to assist the Parks Maintenance crew. This is a full-time position, up to 40 hours per week, with a maximum duration of six months. The role involves assisting in the maintenance of City parks and park facilities in a safe and efficient manner, performing groundskeeping, clearing flower beds, operating various equipment, and performing clean-up tasks. Adherence to safety procedures and utilization of safety equipment are essential.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Lawful and active WA Driver License.
• Consistently represent the City by maintaining a professional demeanor in all activities.
• Work outside in all weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools and basic groundskeeping equipment.
• Reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly and frequently stand, walk, bend over, ambulate up and down ladders and stairs, and have good hand to eye coordination, and finger dexterity to handle, feel and/or operate objects, tools and controls.
• Occasionally sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear with background noise.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Groundskeeping experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic principles, procedures and practices of groundskeeping.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintenance of City parks and park facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
• Performs groundskeeping and clears flower beds of weeds and debris.
• Operates a variety of equipment such as pick-up truck, mower, weed eater and edger.
• Performs clean up tasks including picking up garbage/litter and cleaning park bathrooms.
• Adheres to established safety procedures and utilizes safety equipment as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
