About The Position

This position is a temporary part-time research experience for a post-baccalaureate candidate with prior wet-lab research experience who is interested in deepening their research skillsets in preparation for enrolling in a research-focused doctoral or medical program.

Requirements

  • BS in biology or related discipline
  • Prior wet-lab research experience including proficiency in basic techniques such as RNA extraction, tissue dissection, flow cytometry staining and analysis, and at least basic microscopy.

Nice To Haves

  • Peer-reviewed publications, including at least one first authorship.
  • Evidence of strong presentation skills (e.g. poster or oral presentation at a recognized extramural conference).
  • Self-motivated and a critical thinker
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Knowledge of eosinophilic GI diseases
  • Skilled in intestinal cell isolations
  • Experience with in vivo models of inflammation

Responsibilities

  • Literature reviews related to research projects
  • Experimental design and execution (with support from PI and senior lab members)
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Maintaining a detailed lab notebook, experimental notes, and collated data.
  • Preparation and presentation of data at lab meetings and department-wide venues.
  • Bench research may include, but is not limited to, transcriptome analyses, histologic stains and analysis, in vivo disease modeling, tissue dissection, and flow cytometric cell analyses.
