About The Position

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and Cornell University’s second-largest college. We work across disciplines to tackle the challenges of our time through world-renowned research, education, and outreach. The questions we probe and the answers we seek focus on three overlapping concerns: natural and human systems; food, energy, and environmental resources; and social, physical, and economic well-being. The Department of Communication is a national leader in the study of communication as a social science. Our faculty and students are dedicated to understanding the role and enhancing the effectiveness of communication processes, systems and infrastructure in society. We explore communication in its many forms and contexts as a fundamentally social phenomenon. Our faculty members are recognized for developing and applying novel theoretical perspectives to the most pressing social and policy issues of the day. The mission of the Action Research Collaborative (ARC) is to develop, implement, and evaluate equitable and sustainable research-practice-policy partnerships that can generate solutions to improve the lives of communities that are too often neglected. Our members approach these partnerships from multiple disciplinary perspectives and methodological approaches–we apply whichever approaches are most relevant for the project at hand. We involve community partners at all phases of the project (i.e., from study design to dissemination of findings). The overarching goal is for these projects to inform interventions and public policies, especially policies that support the well-being of marginalized populations. The Center for Racial Justice and Equitable Futures (RJEF) advances scholarship, education, and public engagement that illuminates and addresses the root causes of racial inequity. RJEF builds partnerships across Cornell and beyond the University to support research, storytelling, and collaborative initiatives that imagine and create equitable futures for all.
