About The Position

Sprinter Health is seeking skilled and reliable phlebotomists and medical assistants to join their mobile care team serving patients across Manhattan, NYC. This role involves traveling directly to patients' homes via public transportation to deliver various preventative care and diagnostic services. The position offers training for new services such as capturing diabetic retina images, performing ECGs, and using digital stethoscopes. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in venipuncture, be dependable, professional, and possess strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to customer service. The role emphasizes proficiency in navigating NYC via public transit, with an expectation of completing up to 8 patient appointments per day. A car is not required, but the ability to thrive using public transit and move efficiently through the city is essential. Compassion, empathy, and a genuine care for patients are highly valued.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in venipuncture.
  • Dependability, professionalism, problem-solving skills, and commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Deep familiarity with NYC public transit system, especially key subway lines and bus connections.
  • Ability to travel between appointments using NYC subways and buses (primarily A, 1/2/3/4/5/6 lines).
  • Willingness to work in a revolutionary environment that sometimes necessitates last-minute problem solving and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Technologically savvy and comfortable using tools such as mobile devices for charting and HIPAA secure messaging apps for care coordination.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management and route-planning skills.
  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision in patient homes.
  • Ability to physically access and navigate patient homes including but not limited to climbing stairs and carrying up to 20 pounds while walking.
  • State required licensure and/or proof of training.
  • National certification for applicants in all states that do not have state level licensure requirements.
  • Pass national background check and valid clinical license search.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Proof of completion of course/program or certification based on licensure level.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Current Vehicle Insurance.
  • Proof of vaccination or immunity for COVID + booster, Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B series, Varicella, TB test (within the past year), Influenza (annual or signed exemption), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (TDaP - within past 10 years).

  • Familiarity with the A and the 1/2/3/4/5/6 subway lines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary supplies and PPE are available for patient care.
  • Access schedule and commute to patient homes using provided technology.
  • Make a warm and welcoming connection with diverse patients.
  • Collect relevant information and perform various services including phlebotomy, specimen collection, diabetic foot screenings, retina exams, and ECGs.
  • Ensure collected samples are properly labeled and coordinate drop-off or shipment.
  • Provide patient-centric, diagnostic, and low acuity care in a comfortable manner.
  • Navigate between appointments using NYC subways and buses.
  • Problem-solve in a dynamic environment that may require out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Utilize mobile devices for charting and HIPAA secure messaging apps for care coordination.
  • Maintain a daily schedule of up to 8 appointments across assigned zones.
  • Work with minimal supervision in patient homes.
  • Physically access and navigate patient homes, including climbing stairs and carrying up to 20 pounds while walking.
