About The Position

The Institute for Compensation Studies (ICS) at Cornell University School of Industrial has an opening for Temporary Research Aide – Field Canvasser. The ILR School at Cornell University seeks enthusiastic, people-oriented individuals to assist with a research study focused on delivery drivers and workplace inequality. As a Field Canvasser, you'll work in the field to connect with delivery workers, build trust through authentic conversation, and invite them to participate in a research survey. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on face-to-face interaction, cares about social and economic justice, and wants hands-on experience in community-based research. This is a temporary, non-academic staff, non-benefits eligible opportunity. Position will require residence in, or travel to, Buffalo, NY and/or Orlando, FL.

Requirements

Friendly, confident, and persuasive communication style to connect authentically with a diverse range of people.
Strong work ethic, reliability and self-motivation to show up on time and follow through on tasks.
Comfort in approaching strangers and holding one-on-one conversations in outdoor or worksite settings.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and work outdoors in varying weather.
Tech proficiency (smartphone, Microsoft Office Suite, data entry app, Google Docs or equivalent).
Valid driver's license; ability to drive and travel.
Prior canvassing, door-to-door outreach, community organizing, or sales experience.
Experience working with immigrant or working-class communities.
Interest in labor rights, worker advocacy, or social justice.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
