About The Position

Actors' Equity is a national labor union of professional actors and stage managers working in live theatre. They are hiring a temporary Notetaker for their Touring negotiations. This is a temporary, in-person role in NYC, with typical hours from 9 am to 5 pm, but with the need for flexibility in end times on some days. The role involves attending all in-person negotiation sessions and related meetings to take comprehensive notes during July through September.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in note-taking or similar role, preferably in a legal, corporate, or negotiation setting.
  • Exceptional listening skills and the ability to identify key information in discussions.
  • Strong written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and detail.
  • Ability to write legibly and transcribe notes in a readable format.
  • Proficiency in organizing and categorizing information for ease of reference.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing schedules and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all in-person negotiation sessions and related meetings to take comprehensive notes in July - September.
  • Ensure notes accurately reflect the content of discussions, capturing key points, decisions made, and action items.
  • Identify and highlight relevant information that may influence or impact negotiation outcomes.
  • Maintain legibility in notetaking; clarify any abbreviations or shorthand to ensure notes are understandable by all team members.
  • Organize notes in a systematic manner for easy retrieval and reference.
  • Collaborate with team members to verify details and clarify any ambiguities in the notes.
  • Provide summaries of key outcomes and actions required following each negotiation session.
