About The Position

This position performs a variety of manual tasks and duties associated with seasonal work projects within the Public Works Department, including but not limited to, flaggers, laborers, maintenance workers, and traffic control at various areas throughout Douglas County. All positions may not perform all duties outlined below, but employee must be able to work flexible work schedules that may include weekends, and may be assigned to various locations as needed. Provide courier services to transport vehicles, parts, and customers. Maintained the interior and exterior of county vehicles, including detailing interiors, washing, waxing, and buffing. Maintain inventory of supplies needed for fleet vehicles. Accurately record time in automated equipment maintenance system. Assist with fleet services facility maintenance. Due to potentially hazardous nature of these positions, Oregon Child Labor Laws prevent the hiring of individuals under the age of 18.

Requirements

• Sufficient work experience and/or training in fleet services or related work to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the assigned position.
• Regular and consistent attendance
• Must possess valid Oregon Driver's License at time of appointment.
• Individuals will be assigned to outdoor work and will require bending, color identification, gripping with hands and fingers, hearing alarms, horns, and voice conversation, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 60 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, shoveling/digging, sitting, standing long periods of time, walking in rough terrain and operating light duty county vehicle.
• Excellent vision and clear communication abilities is essential for fire-watch personnel.
• The proper use of personal protection equipment will be required.
• A current copy of your Court Print Driving Record must be attached to your application in order to be considered for this position.
• Employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug screen.
• To determine if physically qualified to perform the essential functions, employment offer is conditional upon satisfactory results of a post-offer medical and hearing exam conducted at county expense.
