About The Position
The City and Borough of Sitka is seeking to hire a temporary worker to assist our full-time mechanics with fleet maintenance. This position will assist with preventative and reactive maintenance and shop upkeep.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- HS diploma or GED
- Possess a valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- Preferred mechanical experience includes a basic knowledge of engines and vehicle systems
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Workspace safety practices
- Attention to detail
- A willingness to learn
Responsibilities
- Assisting in diagnosing equipment and vehicle issues
- Performing basic maintenance such as oil changes, tire maintenance, and brake pad replacements
- Cleaning vehicles, shop equipment, and work areas
- Assisting with management of inventory and organization
- Supporting mechanics with inspections, maintenance, and repairs
