About The Position

George Fox University's Building Maintenance department in Plant Services is seeking temporary labor to support University operations through painting, plumbing, preventative maintenance and other assigned duties. Temporary Labor will spend the majority of their day traveling across campus maintaining equipment based on approved work orders. They will keep up with organizational tasks as they go to ensure accurate inventory, equipment information, and effective communication within the department. This is a temporary position and will conclude within 6 months.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with building trades.
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance and basic plumbing.
  • The ability to lift more than 25 pounds and perform any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
  • A clean driving record along with the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license and pass the University Driver Certification.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine maintenance on various systems/equipment/spaces: (70%) Plumbing maintenance and drain clog repairs.
  • Repairing and painting various surfaces including but not limited to, drywall, trim, doors, parking lots, etc.
  • HVAC equipment maintenance (ex: filters and belts)
  • Following up with maintenance requests, ensuring that all work is accomplished efficiently.
  • Performing organizational tasks: (20%) Maintaining the inventory of the shop and supply areas.
  • Picking up/returning materials to the supply houses and delivering materials to job sites.
  • Supporting other various University functions and repairs: (10%) Assisting the Plumber and HVAC Technician as necessary.
  • Assisting outside trade personnel with assigned work.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.
