About The Position

The Department of Asian Pacific Studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is seeking applications for a pool of part-time teaching appointments. CSUDH values diversity and is looking for candidates who can demonstrate experience in teaching and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contribute to the University's mission, vision, and core values. The Asian-Pacific Studies Program offers an interdisciplinary major and minor focusing on Asian and Pacific Islander societies and cultures with a transnational perspective, preparing students for graduate study, careers in foreign service, international business, teaching, health sciences, and community services. The program covers social, political, and cultural aspects of the region, including history, politics, art, literature, language, popular culture, and philosophy, as well as the transnational connections to Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Asian, Asian American Studies, ethnic studies or related discipline.
• Prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience.
• Experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

• A Ph.D. in Asian, Asian American Studies, ethnic studies or related discipline and prior college-level teaching experience and relevant industry experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned lower and/or upper division courses in the department’s curriculum.
• Serve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
