About The Position

As a Temporary Signature Verification Clerk, Temporary Flagging Clerk, or Curing Clerk, you would assist in facilitating the election process by performing data entry, researching, verifying signatures, and contacting voters. All three are temporary assignments with Maricopa County, and work is performed before, during, and after the election cycle. The placement and assignment for each position will be based on facilitation needs and the applicant’s abilities. The Maricopa County Recorder’s Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering over elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County. Requirements

  • Experience in data entry from a document into a database
  • Experience in keyboard and desktop navigation
  • Experience in researching and gathering information
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Must be registered, or eligible to register, to vote in Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must be able to pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work the full work assignment, extensive irregular hours, and shifts based on the department's needs
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of moderate computer use experience
  • One or more years of election experience
  • One or more years of customer service experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry, research, verify signatures, and contact voters.
  • Utilize Elections software to verify and compare voter signatures on affidavit envelopes with records.
  • Analyze signatures and perform other research, such as contacting voters directly to ensure the efficacy of mail-in ballot processing.
  • Conduct research, add or remove voters' information from the Active Early Voting List, and flag voters for ballots.
  • Provide data entry of voter information utilizing Elections software.
  • Utilize proprietary Elections software to view signature files and verify voter signatures on affidavit envelopes.
  • Reach out to voters primarily via telephone to verify identity on Early Voting affidavit envelopes and explain simple processes.
  • Perform a large volume of phone calls to assist voters and provide conflict resolution.
  • Perform general office duties, including data entry, email communications to voters, mail sorting, filing, and other duties as needed.
  • Provide professional, non-partisan customer service to voters.
