About The Position

Upper Canada Child Care is seeking a temporary Accommodation Support Facilitator to join their team in Markham at St. Rene Goupil-St. Luke CES. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, requiring an 8-hour shift. Upper Canada Child Care is a non-profit licensed provider established in 1983, operating over 85 centers across Toronto, York Region, and Simcoe County. They offer various programs including full-day, before and after school, summer camps, and forest school. Requirements

  • A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
  • Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
  • Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
  • Basic understanding of special needs and knowledge of the developmental needs of children and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge.
  • Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, caregivers and other professionals.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in an effective, professional manner.
  • Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
  • Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
  • Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.

Responsibilities

  • Supports a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
  • Assists with program charts, daily logs, reports and administration tasks as required.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Works to support and maintain an inclusive environment.
  • Accepts direction from other staff members in order to best support the program.
  • May be required to interact with children on a 1:1 basis and/or supervise a group of children.
  • Provides information to parents when requested and encourages family engagement.
  • Observes pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
  • Contributes to the design of Individual Support Plans and supports the implementation with full effort in collaboration with the Inclusion Support team.
  • May attend meetings with internal and/or external agencies and individuals as part of the Individual Support Plan.
  • Performs general housekeeping and classroom duties for children aged 0-12 years (e.g. meal/snack preparation, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc).
