The Temple Facilities Manager 2 ensures the temple reflects the beauty, cleanliness, and sacred nature of the temple experience and maintains standards established by the First Presidency. The role provides functional leadership to facilities employees—including Assistant Facilities Managers, Custodial, Grounds, and Security—for one temple and/or up to four smaller temples. It is the most senior functional expert in the facility and regularly manages the work of other employees, potentially including a mixed workforce. The position typically manages 10–20 employees, with two or more people supervisors reporting to it, and is responsible, in partnership with HR, for hiring or firing employees and recommending advancement, promotion, or other status changes within its reporting line. The manager is responsible for maintaining the temple and associated ancillary buildings, approximately 70,000 square feet, and upholding established standards during peak usage and temple closures. Responsibilities include training, coaching, and mentoring the Temple Facilities Services team; implementing maintenance guides and materials; testing improved maintenance methods, systems, and equipment; and creating and executing a complex annual plan covering project and operational costs, maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs to electrical, mechanical, audiovisual, and computer systems. The role also manages department labor costs and third-party relationships and stakeholder expectations. The position manages capital expenditure R&I projects for facilities, systems, and grounds. Project work includes inspections, reporting, reviewing compliance with drawings and specifications, liaising with local government, permitting, monitoring schedules, and coordinating furniture and materials delivery and installation. The manager helps ensure projects meet design documents and standards, provides regular progress, quality, issue, and procurement reports, communicates with relevant Church leaders and project partners, and participates in final closeout procedures, including as-built drawings, archiving, substantial-completion documentation, warranties, and recommendations. Church employees use their talents and abilities to further the Church’s work. Employment is limited to Church members who are worthy of a temple recommend. The Church is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with known disabilities.
