About The Position

bioMérieux is seeking a Template Control Biotechnology Engineer for a 6-month VIE assignment, involving an immersive experience in Salt Lake City, USA, followed by a contribution to the deployment of activities at the new BIOFIRE® production facility in La Balme-les-Grottes, France. This role is part of an ambitious international project to replicate US expertise in France and build the industrial future of bioMérieux. The Template Control function is responsible for managing templates used in the manufacturing of biotechnological reagents, ensuring their preparation, quality control, traceability, and availability for production teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (bac +5) or Engineering degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or equivalent.
  • First experience in laboratory in execution of functional tests and basic data analysis associated with laboratory activities, and laboratory technical writing/documentation review.
  • English operational proficiency, written and spoken (minimum B2).
  • French fluent.

  • Molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR)

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform core laboratory operations, including microbial culture, preparation and execution of PCR controls, nucleic acid processing (e.g. dilutions), and strict adherence to WID/BR/SOP documentation.
  • Shadow and support Team Leads, focusing on workflow organization, documentation compliance, troubleshooting, and coordination of daily production activities.
  • Work with Technical Team Leads on advanced technical tasks (investigations, process improvements, validation activities).
  • Observe and support supervisors and managers to understand team leadership, resource planning, performance oversight, Quality System alignment, and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Contribute to the update or creation of WID, BR, SOP, and training materials.
  • Take part in testing, functional checks, and investigation activities (NCR, deviations, reworks).
  • Support process improvement initiatives (automation, optimization, 6S).
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, R&D, and Operations on problem‑solving and root‑cause identification.
  • During immersion in Salt Lake City: Train on processes, methods, and standards; develop skills for transfer to France; build expertise alongside American teams; prepare knowledge transfer to French teams.
  • Upon return to France: Contribute to deployment of activities at La Balme-les-Grottes site; train and support French teams; support industrial transfer activities and project ramp-up; contribute to development of future operational standards.
