About The Position

bioMérieux, a family-owned global leader in in vitro diagnostics, is developing a new BIOFIRE® production facility in La Balme-les-Grottes as part of its GO•28 strategic plan. This ambitious international project aims to replicate the expertise developed in the United States by bioMérieux's Salt Lake City teams in France. This role offers a unique opportunity for an immersive experience in Salt Lake City, followed by a contribution to the deployment of activities at the new La Balme-les-Grottes site. The position involves participating in the creation of a new production facility and developing expertise in an international environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (bac +5) or Engineering degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or equivalent.
  • First experience in a laboratory setting, including execution of functional tests and basic data analysis associated with laboratory activities, and laboratory technical writing/documentation review.
  • English operational proficiency, written and spoken (minimum B2).
  • French fluent.

  • Molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR).
  • Proficiency in statistical tools and experience in data science.
  • Excellent communication skills: able to convey technical information clearly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform core laboratory operations, including setup and running BIOFIRE products (PCR controls using reference materials and instruments), with strict adherence to WID/BR/SOP documentation.
  • Shadow and support Team Leads, focusing on workflow organization, documentation compliance, troubleshooting, and coordination of daily production activities.
  • Work with Technical Team Leads on advanced technical tasks such as investigations, process improvements, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with data science teams to understand automated analysis of QC data and QC criteria.
  • Shadow supervisors and managers to understand appropriate use of certain override features in QC LIMS (e.g., Terminate Testing, Off-tool Release, QCfail) and desired oversight to ensure lab data integrity.
  • Assist the QC Specialist in the oversight of lab safety and ergonomic improvement.
  • Participate in special projects as directed by QC lab management.
  • Contribute to the update or creation of WID, BR, SOP, and training materials for the La Balme site.
  • Take part in testing, functional checks, and investigation activities (Quality Events, lab investigations, out-of-spec (OOS) investigations).
  • During immersion in Salt Lake City: Train on processes, methods, and standards used at the U.S. site; develop skills required to support the transfer of activities to France; build expertise alongside American teams; prepare knowledge transfer to French teams.
  • Upon return to France: Contribute to the deployment of Quality Control activities at the La Balme-les-Grottes site; train and support French teams of Quality Control; support industrial transfer activities and project ramp-up; contribute to the development of future operational standards.
