About The Position

The School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering anticipates hiring Adjunct (Temporary, Part time) Faculty to teach and/or develop program courses in Mechanical Engineering for the Fall 2026. Anticipated openings, potentially include the following subjects: Dynamics, Vibrations, Control Systems, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Finite Element Analysis, Engineering Materials Science, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Components, Engineering Design, and Aerospace Systems. Mechanical Engineering is seeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teach in the various disciplines as specified above. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of courses taught to include: meeting with class during assigned times, content delivery, assignment development, grading assignments, reporting of grades, and assessment of student learning as outlined by the Department Chair. Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current course offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to deadline for students to drop or add courses.

Requirements

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Minimum qualifications must be consistent with Higher Learning Commission standards and compliant with the faculty hiring guidelines.
  • Official certification of successful completion of all degree requirements prior to initial employment with UNM (for appointed faculty).
