About The Position

The University of New Mexico’s Gallup Branch, Liberal Arts & Education Division, anticipates hiring adjunct faculty to teach face-to-face and/or online lower division courses (1000/2000 Level) during the Spring, Summer, and Fall 2027 semesters in various potential areas including Africana Studies, American Studies, Chicana and Chicano Studies, Classical Studies, German Literature and Film, History, International Studies, Languages and Cultures, Native American Studies, Philosophy, and Religion. UNM Gallup is a two-year branch campus focused on providing quality education, responding to community needs, and offering programs for career and transfer preparation. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of teaching, including content delivery, assignment development, grading, and assessment. Positions are contingent upon semester-specific needs based on student enrollment and course offerings. Candidates selected will report to the division chair.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in African Studies, American Studies, Classical Studies, History, the Humanities, International Studies, Native American Studies, Philosophy, Religion, or a related field; or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in any of those fields previously listed
• An updated curriculum vitae
• Official transcript(s) sufficient to assess minimum qualifications
• Cover letter indicating which discipline(s) you are interested in teaching, the days/times you are available to teach, and how your education satisfies the minimum qualifications criteria
• Three professional references and their contact information (phone number and/or email addresses)

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate degree in African Studies, American Studies, Classical Studies, History, the Humanities, International Studies, Native American Studies, Philosophy, Religion, or a related field
• College-level teaching experience
• A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities

Responsibilities

• Meeting face-to-face with the class during assigned times that may include evenings or weekends
